Our Story

New Life Training Center, began with Paukhannang and Lami’s unfading compassion for those who have experienced the negative consequences of substance abuse. Nangno personally witnessed God’s transformative power while using addictive substances. He was addicted to drugs for more than ten years, even after his fourth child was born. He had a heart desire to change but could not overcome it with his own strength. So, he gave up the idea of changing and, as a result, accepted his fate as death. However, his wife and mother consistently kept their prayers to God.

Interestingly, Nangno would often speak out in faith that one day, he would overcome this unfortunate experience and become a servant of God while still in bondage. Because of his immense desire to change, he gathered seven of his close friends who were in the same condition at his house for three months to receive biblical teachings from Mualhoih Sia Khamno. Later, they started a gospel team called ‘New Life’ and led a gospel camp with 290 people. Among the participants, 90 received water baptism, and today, four ‘New Life’ members, including Nangno, serve God in full-time ministry. Nangno continued to attend the Myitkyina, Full Gospel Assembly Church discipleship program for three months and went to Insein for additional training.

Later, Nangno’s family moved to Malaysia to find a better life, and then, with the help of the United Nations, they had the opportunity to come to the United States in 2013. The consequence of heavy drugs had destroyed his lungs and organs, but God healed Nangno completely and gave him brand new organs. In 2017, Nangno’s family continued to carry on this mission of serving for drug addicts. The family provided months of spiritual care, food, and shelter for two individuals seeking to be free from drug usage. In 2020, with the help of many leaders and the support of Far East Mission Church, NLTC had the privilege of caring for more people in a new, larger building equipped with proper facilities. NLTC is now home and family to many New Lifers. We are a Christian family-based ministry committed to serving people under the influence of addictive substances. We stand to nurture and shape those people to become the men that God has called them to be and be the light of this world for the glory of God.
